This is interesting information.. how many years can you go back? why do our people still suffer and while the chiefs and council continue to hide in secrecy when we question them about finances..

I am descended from the same bloodline as Kakekapenais, the leader who signed treaty one on behalf of the people of Sagkeeng. Perhaps it's time we make a claim to our hereditary leadership (in the tradition of Anishinabe Ogimak)and show these "Indian Chiefs" how its done.

I can understand the things you say about the treaties, but I think that our ancestors would be very proud if we could win new treaties, not as scattered tribes, but as a united Anishinabe Nation.

In order to have any chance of success in such an endeavour, a fundemental shift in consciousness is required on the part of the people. I don't want power, I want to help wake our people up. That's why I keep saying that we are not Indians. This is the key, this is our identity, who and what we are. Will we be lazy, drunk, fuckin' Indians destined to a fate dictated by negative stereotypes, or will we be proud Anishinabe, masters of our own lives and destinies?

Your name sounds familiar. Did you ever have any involvement with the University of Winnipeg Aboriginal Student Council. Maybe you wrote a letter in a local newspaper that stood out from the rest of the garbage that Indians sent to our newspapers? I will find out why your name sounds familiar then send you an email with some of my plans.
